At a Loss

I am angry. I’m not alone with my anger I am sure. What is happening here? The response from the President has been wretched. His flailing attempts at calming us in his press briefings, or should I say, substitute rallies/campaigning, show the most incredible lack of compassion and empathy for victims, families, and the at-risk populations. His understanding of the science, and inability to just shut up and let the experts speak robs us of the knowledge we need to have.

Wow, did the American people step into in it when he was voted into office nearly four years ago. His decisions on immigration, the environment, and general governance is sickening enough. But this…this is an unimaginable breach of the faith one should have in its leader

His nationalist obsession, cozying up to dictators, and his collaboration with McConnell to bring in judges on all court levels to thwart the rights most of us cherish is beyond the pale and trends positively dictatorial.

Fending for the rich despite the rhetoric of helping the middle class is abhorrent. Tax cuts? What tax cuts and for whom?

Alienating those who protect our country in the intelligence community calling them “the deep state.” Firing anyone with integrity who dares to challenge him (authoritarian that he is), and mocking the news media except for his state-run Fox News, along with his loathing for the rule of law makes my blood boil.

When he rails at reporters accusing them of asking horrible, nasty, and terrible questions, my skin crawls. He had shown no decency prior to all this, and now it is on full display. “100,000; 200,000, we’ll be doing a great job.” “Our stockpile. Not your stockpile, states — find your own.” His ignorance begs reporters to delve further into attempts at discerning what these irrational statements mean. We the public deserve that scrutiny.

Putting his son-in-law in a critical role of coordinating efforts to combat the spread is bad enough, but altering government websites to reflect Jared’s regurgitation of Trump’s dogma is downright Orwellian!

It is well-documented how his dismissal of a proactive approach will cause vastly greater numbers of deaths than would have been. However, as long as he lies and continues to repeat that he knew about the pandemic and how to deal with it all along, his minions will nod their hollow heads.

Sadly, what many of us worried about by voting him into office is transpiring before our very eyes. The most incompetent president in the history of this country is at the helm, and we are all the worse for it.

Looking back at his reign, what more could we have truly expected? One can only hope that we weather this surreal storm to vote him out of office in November, assuming that our right to vote is not tampered with.
